22X Olympia-winning coach Hany Rambod offers some tips for training the abs, starting with a warm-up set. Hany believes that every part of the body needs to be warmed up, so start with a few light crunches.
When training the abs with crunches, you want to roll into them. Don't keep your abs flat and tight. You want to curl up and bring them together. Remember that doing abdominal exercises will not immediately give you a washboard. A tight stomach is mainly created in the kitchen and with cardio exercises. You need to be in a calorie deficit to get your body fat low enough for them to be noticeable.
Be careful during your first or second ab workout because you may experience cramping. Make sure you are well hydrated and take in some sodium, especially if it is a hot day.
