Choosing protein powder: whey, isolate, clear whey or gainer?
Protein powder is not a miracle product. It's a practical way to get enough protein when you train seriously. Protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass and to the maintenance of muscle mass. Which powder suits you depends on your goal, your taste and how strictly you track your macros. Below, we compare the types side by side.

Whey protein: the basics
Whey is what remains when cheese is made. Whey concentrate is the most common form: creamy, versatile and affordable. Whey Protein, our own label, contains 78 grams of protein per 100 grams of powder. A solid choice if you want a reliable daily shake.
Whey isolate: one filtration step further
With isolate, the whey goes through an extra filtration step. That leaves more protein per serving and less fat, lactose and carbohydrates. Evogen Isoject is a whey protein isolate made with a three-step cold filtration process. Choose isolate if you track your macros closely.
Clear whey: fresh instead of creamy
Not in the mood for a thick shake after a heavy session? Clear whey dissolves clear and drinks like lemonade. Clear Whey Ice Tea, also our own label, tastes like iced tea. Same protein, different experience.
Protein blend: protein from multiple sources
Evogen Evofusion combines several protein sources in one powder, with 24 grams of protein per serving. For those who prefer one shake that fits any moment of the day.
Weight gainer: when gaining weight is hard
A weight gainer, also called a mass gainer, combines protein with plenty of carbohydrates and calories. It's meant for athletes who struggle to eat enough to gain weight. Evogen Super Huge is one: 50 grams of protein and 1,210 to 1,230 kcal per serving, depending on the flavour. Watching your calories instead? Then a regular whey or isolate makes more sense.
Which one suits you?
- You want a daily protein shake: whey protein.
- You track your macros closely: whey isolate.
- You want something fresh after training: clear whey.
- You struggle to gain weight: weight gainer.
